Financial District Loft
A fifty-five by twenty foot triple exposure living room with sweeping downtown views is the hallmark of this financial district loft. The design goals were to maximize the impact of this incredible space by forming meaningful connections to its adjoining rooms. A new, open kitchen was developed, as were a pocket office and a convertible library and guest room. Significant improvements were made to the entry hall. Originally wide, low and dark, and culminating in an outdated rotunda, it acted as a magnet for a young family’s miscellany. Redesigned as a much taller and somewhat narrower passage, and bathed in multiple sources of light, it is comprised of a now-indispensable vestibule, a long stretch of strategic hidden storage, and an elegant niche housing furniture and art.
